Dyeing Day - Results of Dartmoor Dyeing

Posted by Picasa
It has been a long hot summer and spinning has been the last thing on my mind until my inbox reminded me that we were having a whole day indulging our passion for fleece, dyes, and getting back into fleece, sheep and woolly yarns.
Here are the gorgeous  results of our whole day dyeing session  where we  spent a fun day  stirring and squishing the fleece in big pots and watching the colors turn magically into something else. Some of the between colors were even more scrumptious than they intended colors. We started out with four colors and ended up with a myriad of shades.  We were watched the whole time by a wee flock of Gotland sheep who surveyed us all every step of the way.......   I wonder what they thought !

As this blogger says it is a lot easier to do than to explain :))  but the gist is you start off with a greasy fleece  and only 4 dyes and end up with a huge variety of shades and colors in between too.  We used two fleeces as our spinning group will be making an afghan for the local Hospice and raffling it off.
Paradise Fibers has everything for Handspinning  plus loads of luscious yarns, dyes and more
